In anticipation for the upcoming 2021 WEC championships - which includes the 24 hours of Le Mans - manufacturers are rushing to develop their cars in time for the homologation inspectors.

American team, Glickenhaus is due to enter the 2021 season with their hotly anticipated 007 LMH hypercar. It has been spotted testing at the Monza circuit in northern Italy where the engineers have been extensively analysing its capabilities.

Glickenhaus has racked up success before in motorsport, including the Baja 1000 where their off-road monster managed to beat the wildly coveted Ford Bronco.

The 007 LMH will be powered by a 3.5 litre twin turbocharged V8 developing 680bhp on a sort-of over boost, as per the homologation rules.

The main aim of the car is to take an overall American victory at Le Mans for the first time since the Ford GT40 in 1969. Considering that Glickenhaus will be pitting themselves against Ferrari from 2023, there could be a repeat battle between Italy and America in endurance racing just like there was in the 1960s.

Ferrari meanwhile, aren't set to join the WEC Hypercar category until 2023, but a test mule of their new hypercar has been spotted on the move using a LaFerrari shell.

There are no confirmed details on the hypercar yet, but it has been speculated that it will use a hybrid powertrain with a 3.5 litre V12 at heart - or possibly a twin-turbocharged V8 with similar architecture to the SF90 road car.

As it is still early stages for developing the ultimate car bearing the prancing horse, it is likely that mere aspects of the hypercar are being tested in the LaFerrari mule rather than significant parts such as the engine, gearbox and so on.

This will be the first time since Ferrari has entered the top tier category at Le Mans for almost 50 years, so it will be hugely significant when the car is eventually revealed.
